The graphic novel This One Summer by Jillian and Mariko Tamaki explores the awkward transition from girl to woman, from child to adult, of the confusion of exploring the changes in one’s body and what it means. Narratives like this are so important for young kids to see their questions and concerns reflected in the world, to give them a better grasp over their own experiences growing up.
Check out the 13 things This One Summer gets right, and a short excerpt of the graphic novel.

We have a passion for fashion, and have even dabbled in design ourselves. Shown here is our electric flying suit, the human exoskeleton we attempted to build in the 1960s and the moons boots we made for Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. Last but not least is our recent collaboration with JackThreads on The Missions, a rare type of sneakers made with advanced materials to celebrate the anniversary of the 45th lunar landing.

For New York Fashion Week, we wanted to explore the intersection of fashion and science further, and today, we’re pleased to introduce GE’s #iOnFashion team. Click here to meet the science and fashion bloggers who will take over our Tumblr next week with their unique NYFW coverage.

Deconstructing Masculinity & Manhood with Michael Kimmel @ Dartmouth College

YAAAAEEESSSSSSS

You know what I like, and feel is so important? That he doesn’t say “Men thinks those are THEIR positions”. He says “We think those are OUR positions.”

As a male feminist, he still doesn’t exclude himself from the group of men.

Damn.

Well said.

Cover illustrations for Samson (サムソン) magazine, 2005
by Sansuke Yamada (山田参助)

Samson has a tradition of inviting one artist to draw their covers for the calendar year. Sansuke Yamada was chosen as the cover artist for 2005, and his resulting illustrations are truly beautiful!

This guy is doing a series in Comic Beam now and I think it’s just great.
